Who Am I?

I’m a professional editor and writer based in Edinburgh, actively obsessed with all things commercial, crime, thriller, literary and poetry. I have edited and commissioned titles for both independent and large publishing houses and love to read work that will fascinate readers and animate their curiosity with new perspectives.

After gaining my English Literature MA (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh, I joined the the publishing sector in 2022, leaving a wonderful stint in the world of magazines, where I ran the production of three international magazines, including Scottish Field.

I am a certified proofreader and editor with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), the UK’s foremost editorial standards and training organisation and I take a huge amount of pride in delivering exceptional author care and having a stringent eye for detail when delivering publishing services, leading to me being awarded a place on the Bookseller’s list of Rising Stars in 2024.

During my time at one of the UK’s largest publishing houses I edited Donna Ashworth’s Sunday Times bestselling poetry collection, Love, Life and Loss and Waterstones Book of the Month, The Specimens by Mairi Kidd.

Working with agents like Caro Clarke, Jenny Brown, United Agents and Curtis Brown, I commissioned multiple titles which went on to be featured at festivals including the Edinburgh Book Festival and Bloody Scotland. Many of my commissions have signed editions in shops like Toppings and Goldsboro Books, with glowing reviews in The Scotsman and The Daily Mail.

I have taken part in panels for festivals such as Granite Noir, Helensburgh Book Festival, Edinburgh Women’s Fiction Festival alongside Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook and Society of Young Publishers events and the British Museum’s Untold roundtable.

Editorial Portfolio

As a writer with an adventurous spirit and an endless amount of curiosity, I love finding new and diverse points of view. My own writing is published in various places including The List, Speculative Books and Scottish Field magazine and I sourced and interviewed thirty personalities including Chris Hoy, Judy Murray and James Cosmo in order to ghostwrite Sally Magnusson’s My Perfect Place in Scotland.

I’m currently working on my first fiction novel and when I’m not reading, writing, or editing, I love to swim, sing and travel. I adore finding new comedy, movies, music, and taking my furry assistant Beans on long walks.

You can find samples of my writing below, and on The List’s website.
